TIR POLL: GOP Nomination for Ag Secretary Up for Grabs

Quiet campaign has voters unaware & unsure of whom to support

When Bill Northey resigned as Iowa Secretary of Agriculture, many Republicans stepped forward and wanted to succeed him. However, months later, Republican voters have little knowledge of who is even running for the post, let alone the person whom Gov. Reynolds appointed to replace Northey.

The Iowa Republican commissioned a poll by Harper Polling to determine where things stand in the GOP Ag Secretary race. The poll was in the field May 13 & 14 and surveyed 500 Republican primary voters.

Mike Naig
Total Favorable: 18%
Total Unfavorable: 11%

Ray Gaesser
Total Favorable: 13%
Total Unfavorable: 9%

Chad Ingels
Total Favorable: 13%
Total Unfavorable: 9%

Craig Lang
Total Favorable: 20%
Total Unfavorable: 11%

Dan Zumbach
Total Favorable: 18%
Total Unfavorable: 9%

And on the important question of where things currently stand if you had to vote today:

Lang: 12%
Zumbach: 9%
Naig: 8%
Gaesser: 7%
Ingels: 6%
Undecided: 59%

Only two and a half weeks remain before Primary Day—and this race is totally up for grabs and looks like to go to convention if no one can reach 35%.
