Planned Parenthood: Your Friendly Neighborhood (Taxpayer Funded) Birth Control (and Abortion) Provider

Just when you thought that Planned Parenthood hadn’t gained enough inroads into our society through access to our public schools and access to our tax dollars, we see that they are at it again.

There is now a bill pending in the Iowa Statehouse that would fund birth control for all women (and vasectomies for men) up to 300% of the poverty level.

Now, keep in mind that the state already funds birth control for women who earn up to 200% of the poverty level, but, apparently that’s not good enough.

This irritates me on many levels.

First, if you are old enough to be having sex, you should be old enough to take responsibility for your own health and buy your own condoms or birth control pills. One office call and pap test per year doesn’t cost that much, and you can get your birth control pills at any Walmart or Target for $4 per month.

But that’s not what this is about. This is about further subsidizing Planned Parenthood as evidenced by the fact that Planned Parenthood’s lobbyists are the driving force behind this bill. You see, they don’t want you to go to a real doctor for your female health needs. They want to you go to the abortion mill, so that later, when your birth control fails, you’ll know how to get to their office without having to look up how to get there on Google maps.

They want it to be normal to go to a Planned Parenthood clinic, so that when you need to go there for an abortion you don’t stop to think twice about it.

It’s too bad Alexandra Nuñez didn’t think twice. Perhaps she’d be alive today if she had.
