Branstad Thanksgiving Message

Branstad RPIChris and I would like to wish you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving from our entire family.

As you retreat to your meals, fellowship and togetherness, it is a wonderful time to focus on what makes Iowa such a great place to live, work and raise a family.

For us, we reflect on the great times we’ve had traveling throughout the state. We have always enjoyed visiting your community, and always felt welcomed when we did. Recently, I announced that I will again be traveling the state, meeting with Iowans to discover what you all are thankful for – and what you think needs to be done differently in order to make this state thrive once again.

When our campaign comes to your area, I hope you will come out and join me as we discover new solutions to the challenges we face.

You and I both know that with recent hardships in the economy and state government, we are faced with a unique opportunity to make some meaningful, long-lasting changes that put us on solid footing, offering the security we need if we are to grow as a state. Together, we can change the size, scope, structure and delivery system of our state and local governments. No challenge is ever too big when matched with the dedication and hard work of Iowans.

Until then, enjoy your holiday, and please stay in touch in the weeks and months ahead!

Sincerely,

Terry and Chris Branstad

A “Thanksgiving message” from a gubernatorial candidate?

    Out.

    of.

    touch.

So, is it out of touch when BVP does it, Peggy?

  • anonymous wrote on 27 November, 2009, 11:23

From my intermittent perusal of this site, it has appeared to me that Peggy and Stacia are BVP supporters, and openly demonstrate their support through their extensive commentary. It seems as if something’s not quite right today. Why is it “out of touch” for TEB to provide a Thanksgiving message, but not BVP?? Maybe Peggy recognizes that no one will read BVP’s so he/she makes a snide comment on TEB’s message.

    Anonymous,
Actually I think Peggy has posted that she leans more toward Speaker Rants. But I could be wrong and would mind being corrected. Hey any candidate can wish people a Happy Thanksgiving, to me the Holiday is above political primary jabs. But Peggy has a lot of good insight also on other topics that are on.

Hmm..so I guess Peggy would also say that it was “out of touch” for Mike Huckabee to do a Christmas message.

Mr. Ryan… I don’t see any “political primary jabs” in this message…its just a message conveying warm wishes and him announcing that he’s going to traveling the state soon..not a big deal.

‘So, is it out of touch when BVP does it, Peggy?” — SharpHawkeye

Nope. Do these guys really think the people of Iowa are waiting with baited breath to hear their “messages”? Most Iowans couldn’t even say who’s running for governor!

Anonymous, you’re wrong. I’m leaning towards Rants.

Correction to my 20:45 post above: YES, it is just as out of touch for BVP to proffer a Thanksgiving message.

  • Michael Ryan wrote on 27 November, 2009, 21:26

    Mr. Hawk,
I didn’t intend to say it was political jab, but sorry if I confused people that way. I was trying to point out that I have no problems with people seeking office wishing people a Happy Thanksgiving. But thank you for the correction, if I confused you.

Give me one reason why it is out of touch for any candidate to give a Thanksgiving message of encouragement or acknowledgement.

I was wondering why the other candidates did not chime in one way or another.
