Zaun Steps Closer to Congressional Bid

zaunBelow is a press release from Brad Zaun about his potential campaign for Congress. Zaun has also reworked his website.

Today, Brad Zaun moved one step closer to making a Congressional bid official by filing the necessary paperwork with the Federal Election Commission.

“The support I’ve received from people encouraging me to run has been humbling. Republicans, Independents and Democrats alike recognize Washington is a mess. Iowans are hungry for a little commonsense to come out of Washington. Government showing a little fiscal restraint and not spending more than it takes in would be a simple place to start,” said Brad Zaun.

“My experience comes from running a small business for 16 years and serving as a councilman, mayor and state senator.”

Zaun concluded, “Today’s FEC filings are part of the logical steps leading up to a formal announcement. I look forward to the discussion with voters about the differences on issues between Congressman Boswell and myself. “

Brad Zaun is a former council member and seven year Mayor of Urbandale. Currently Zaun is a State Senator representing all of Urbandale and portions of northwest Des Moines. Brad’s business experience includes 16 years as owner of Zaun’s Trustworthy Hardware in Urbandale. He is married and the father of five children.

Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District includes the counties of Polk, Marion, Jasper, Mahaska, Benton, Grundy, Poweshiek, Tama, Iowa, Lucas, Keokuk and Monroe.

It looks like the polk county moderates have their candidate. Two conservatives with Funk and Gibbons against the mod. How long before Zaun’s home foreclosures and pro gay votes come back to haunt him? And is it Gibbons or Funk that expose him as the Doug Gross mod candidate?

Mr. Truth – You forgot the wolf in sheep’s clothing Bertroche who supported Healthcare Reform before he opposed it.

I have personally spoken with Dave Funk on a couple of occasions, and heard his “stump speech” several times.  He is the real deal.  He has my support.

Belik, I agree. Bertroche is a joke. Zaun is the mods stalking horse now. Funk and Gibbons are the only social and fiscal conservatives running.

I don’t know anything about Zaun’s personal money problems. What’s the story there? But as a Democrat I am glad there is a Republican that is willing to support civil rights for gays. Brad Zaun’s vote to protect gays is a good mark in my book.

It did not take long for “Mr. Truth”, or the campaign he works for, to release his salvo of sleeze and lies yet again. As before, and because he must not know real facts, I will once again repost what I posted before to his fibs:

“When this same issue was brought up two campaign cycles ago, Zaun addressed it head on and discussed in detail his struggles as a small businessman and the sacrifices it took to compete in good and bad times against the Lowe’s and Home Depot’s of the world, and in lean economic times what had to be done to pay employees, keep the doors open, and feed the family, even if some bills had to be deferred. Zaun, who could of taken the easy way out and walked away like so many others do (TARP and government bailouts didn’t exist at that time) instead used sweat equity to pay back every dime owed…and walked in the same shoes as many a farmer, small businessman, union employee and others in this district who faced tough times, yet through hard work came out better on the other side. I, and I will bet you many many others in this district, will be very proud to vote for someone with that kind of life experience who made such a positive of it.”

As for Mr. Truth’s other lies, even bleedingheartland.com today says regarding his wacky posts “I have no idea what he is talking about”.

Time to quit with the lies and fibs and post REAL truth “Mr. Truth”. Your sleeze belongs somewhere else. Zaun is a terrific conservative candidate with an outstanding track record as a leader and voting record and many agree.

Mr. Truth, what pro-gay votes are you talking about?

“Iowa’s 3rd District Congressional Candidate Dave Funk of Runnells, welcomes the announcement today of Brad Zaun’s entry into the race for the Republican Nomination. Funk says that ‘Brad will brings additional competition into the race to unseat Leonard Boswell and to restore loyalty and respect for our Constitution and the people of Iowa’s 3rd District in Washington’ “.

I don’t see anything wrong with it. I know he’s copy/pasting a press release, but it comes across as in the 3rd person, which is kind of annoying. Other than that, nothing wrong with it.
