Let’s be honest here..Christian Fong really has no business running for Governor. He’s using this run for Governor to pad his resume in hope that someone picks him to be Lt. Governor.

Here’s what Fong SHOULD be doing if he wants to be Governor someday…he should be running for Iowa Senate against Rob Hogg in Cedar Rapids.

Win that seat, hold it for a term or two…then he’ll be in a position where he’s got the name ID and standing to make a credible run for Governor.

But for right now..he looks like a wet behind the ears college grad demanding a 150,000 a year job with no experience.

Desmoinesdem, Ed won’t do anything drastic. He needs the issue of tax reform far more than than actual tax reform. Follow the money. Why else would a group with unlimited funding never seem to actually actually get something done? Special elections? Consitutional tax amendments? Why else would he sell his endorsement to candidates who cannot win in Iowa? Fong? Pataki? McCain? Giggidy giggidy goo!

Florida looks good on this table, partly because its enormous tourism industry allows it to get by without a state income tax. However, Florida has lousy public schools and a much worse budget crisis than Iowa's. In fact, Florida is one of the states "most like California" in terms of budget problems, according to the Pew Center on the States. Letting Ed Failor write our state's tax code will make it more regressive but won't magically fix all our problems. Most of the states with no income tax have large tourism industries, which Iowa will never have (especially since our waterways are too polluted for most recreation).

i like to see Fong following the rest of the candidates, but this is way to much to read. long winded !

Fong is correct. Our state should be bending over backward to woo businesses into Iowa but, instead, we’re oppressed by a short-sighted, Democrat controlled state legislature.

Has Mike Gronstal ever produced anything or held a private sector job?
