I feel the need to substitute the word incompetent for the word idiot today. It just works a little better and since it’s a Krusty world and you guys just live in it, I figure I can do whatever the heck I want.
Let’s get started.
Governor Chet Culver
Culver gave AFSCME until last Friday to renegotiate a portion of their contracts in order to stave-off a large number of state employee layoffs. Friday came and went with no news from the unions or the Governor. Culver spent last week in Washington D.C. asking Iowa WWII veterans for their vote while they visited the WWII memorial and then came back to Iowa to go pheasant hunting.
It’s pretty hard to negotiate when you are out gallivanting around the country Governor. It’s also not an ultimatum when you place a deadline and nothing happens when the time comes.
The unions just showed Iowans who’s in-charge, and it’s not the Governor.
Governor Culver, you’re incompetent and an idiot.
President Obama
I don’t know how many people saw it, but President Obama was a complete ass following the shootings at Fort Hood last week. The cable news stations were told that the president would speak about the shootings prior to a previously scheduled appearance. Here is what NBC Chicago had to say about what transpired.
“ At the event, a Tribal Nations Conference hosted by the Department of Interior’s Bureau of Indian affairs, the president thanked various staffers and offered a “shout-out” to “Dr. Joe Medicine Crow — that Congressional Medal of Honor winner.” Three minutes in, the president spoke about the shooting, in measured and appropriate terms. Who is advising him?
Anyone at home aware of the major news story of the previous hours had to have been stunned. An incident like this requires a scrapping of the early light banter. The president should apologize for the tone of his remarks, explain what has happened, express sympathy for those slain and appeal for calm and patience until all the facts are in. That’s the least that should occur.”
President Obama, you’re insensitive, tasteless, and incompetent idiot.
Governor Terry Branstad
Dude, I hope the speech you gave on Saturday night was better live and in person than it looked on-line. You looked good and your voice reminds me of that from a hall of fame sportscaster, but I think we all know that you were either not comfortable with the speech or you didn’t think to practice giving it.
While I’m at it, I’d drop the whole “governor” thing, people should just call you Terry. I remember back in the day when Jim Lightfoot was running. He had signs and ads that said, “Iowa needs Governor Lightfoot.” That didn’t work out well for him. I know you have earned every right to be called “Governor,” I get that, but politically I don’t know if it’s going to be helpful for you in the long run.
Terry Branstad, you have a lot of work to do. The early miscues of your campaign make you and those who work for you look like idiots.

No, Krusty. Branstad’s speech was not better in person. In fact, by watching it online you were spared the horrified looks of the audience members while he gave it and the uncomfortable feeling of watching a legacy self-destruct in front of your eyes.
One speach isn’t a big deal. We have a great speaker as president and look where that gets us. We need someone who can lead and manage this state, not all flash.
Nor must we discount the candidates who are quite capable of giving a great speech, have a good grasp of the issues and didn’t already serve as governor of Iowa for 16 years.
NEIowan, no one speech usually isn’t all that important. But when it is your first MAJOR appearance as a candidate it is vitally important because for a lot of people it is their first impression of him.
Nobody will remember this come next week even. NEXT!
Actually, people WILL remember this next week. Although people saw Branstad give speeches while running for Governor and when in office, there are many of us that are younger that did not see these speeches because we were hmmmm….8 years old? My point is, that I’m under 30 years old, this is my first impression of Terry Branstad. It was not a good impression. I’m not taking away from him that he was a good governor in the past, but he didn’t look like he was quite up to the task the other night. People at all ages will remember this speech, and I assure you that people from the younger generations will absolutely remember this speech because this is the first that we have seen. I would much rather vote for one of the other candidates that have a bright future in front of them. This is not the be all and end all for TB, but this speech will definitely not be forgotten.
It probably won’t be forgotten among those in attendance but not everyone was there. I didn’t hear it but I remember when Branstad was governor and I’d be proud to have him be governor again. I’d gladly trade him for Culver. It’s a no brainer.
I wasn’t there either, but watched the speeches online….any of these candidates would be better than Culver!
What is funny is that they were going to give their speeches in alphabetical order and then some camps didn’t like that so they drew names (my guess is that Branstad camp didn’t want BVP to go last since they knew he was a good speaker). Then, BVP goes behind Branstad which actually hurt Branstad more. I don’t care if you are for Branstad or BVP, it was painful to watch Branstad. I covered my eyes and wished for Branstad’s sake that he would just end his speech. I felt bad for him. Even worse, Bob comes up next and gets the crowd laughing and gives a passionate speech. Not a good night for Team Branstad.
I heard Rants actually gave the best speech of the night.
SWICon is right. Any of our guys are better than Culver. We actually have an excellent group from which to choose. They are all good.
I think they all did a good job (for the most part)…..Roberts still has my vote as of now and he really had some fire in him when he spoke. If you haven’t watched the video of the other night on cspan.com I definitely think you should!
