In 2006, Bruce Braley ran ads that said that he would take us to Washington. The point of his campaign ad was to say that he would listen to the people of his district, not the lobbyists and special interest groups that have infested our nation’s capitol.
Yesterday we learned that Congressman Braley doesn’t really give a crap what you think. In fact, he asked the House Ethics committee if he could use his congressional email account to alert citizens outside of his district to push for his liberal agenda.
Here is the blurb from the Washington Post.
So, Braley the lawyer was trying to side step the law…
I guess campaign laws can be thrown out the window when you have your eyes set on Sen. Harkin’s U.S. Senate Seat.
Does anyone else think that Braley looks a little like Christopher Kinght from Brady Bunch fame?
NY 23 state of mind…
File this under quotes that I find interesting:
That’s from our good friend Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour.
Haley, I thought that you told us back a few months ago that there are all sorts of Republicans and it doesn’t matter what they believe in so long as they vote Republican.
Seriously, Scozzafava will be the best thing that ever happened to conservatives.
And…
I also want to know why the RNC political department looked the other way when Scozzafava was picked to be the candidate. We all know it’s a bunch of crap when they say that they were not involved in the selection of a candidate. It’s not like there are hundreds of high profile elections taking place this year. There are only three.
Is it a coincidence that RNC political director Gentry Collins and Mitt Romney, who has yet to endorse Hoffman, seemed to be on the wrong side of this one? You know you are in bad shape when Sarah Palin out maneuvers you on something like this.
Iowa Elections that I’ll be following.
I’ll be watching to see what happens in the Cedar Rapids race for mayor. Ron Corbett needs 50% of the vote to avoid a runoff. If he is able to do that, it will be good news for Republicans in eastern Iowa. Corbett, who is the former Speaker of the Iowa House, has the political skills to be a major political force in eastern Iowa, especially if he is critical of Governor Culver’s handling of the floods.
The other race I’ll be watching is the Waukee race for mayor. State Central Committee member Isaiah McGee is running against current Mayor Bill Peard. It’s never easy to unseat an incumbent, but this may give us a glimpse of whether 2010 will be an anti-incumbent year or not.

Let’s hope that a solid candidate can take on Braley in IA-1 this year…. Dave Hartsuch is a great guy..but he ran a God-awful campaign in 2008…
Can he improve his campaign sufficiently to oust Braley?
It looks like the pendulum is swinging back to the right so it should be easier to take out these progressive Dims.
DVFO..
Hartsuch had probably the most disorganized, poorly run campaign of any of the Congressional candidates in 2008. Case in point–he showed up LATE for a major radio debate with Braley. His campaign made Amateur Hour look good to be honest.
Hartsuch barely raised any $$..nor did he put together any solid grassroots organization for a Congressional campaign.
If the GOP going to take out Braley..it will need a well known candidate who has the ability to raise a significant amount of $$ as Braley has already nearly $500,000 cash on hand for the 2010 campaign.
Let’s get on with it. These wacko libs are vulnerable.
I am writing off topic, since I know most of the people on here do not watch the colbert report, you are not aware that the US Speed skating team lost its primary sponsor and is scrabling for funds. Colbert has stepped in to help fundraise for them. I know many of you probably don’t like him, but this is a good patriotic cause I thought everyone could get behind. You can go to colbertnation or the US speed skating cite to make a donation.

Good one Krusty! Indeed, Scozzafava will be the best thing that ever happened to conservatives – that race will hasten the destruction or hasten the majesty of conservative dogma. … Now knowing the results… destruction it will be. Woohoo! The door has been opened, Republicans have a chance to win again!
I’m half-kidding, I don’t really have much hope conservative losers will do anything but shout louder and be even more embarrassing for the rest of us.
Does Krusty know Ron Corbett is a moderate Republican?
If Corbett is a “moderate”, it’s time to define “moderate”.
Let’s start with the premise that Scozzy is a lib.
