Iowa State Can’t even Win an Online Poll

Iowa_State_hot_dogThese are dark depressing days for Cyclone fans. Not only is their football team just good enough to break their fans hearts, but ESPN Page 2 just disqualified the Cyclones in the College Football Tailgating Contest.

“Page 2 has banned Iowa State from the tournament. We received well over 12,000,000 votes in the most recent round — and Iowa State received over 94 percent of the votes in its matchup against Louisiana Tech. Based on these unlikely vote totals and results, our tournament committee has advanced Louisiana Tech to the next round.”

I’m sorry but this is crap. Did the rules explicitly state that no shenanigans were allowed? Just because ISU’s engineers know how to pull this off is no reason to penalize them. Additionally, ESPN Page 2 didn’t question the results when Louisiana Tech beat LSU, Iowa State beat Iowa, or Maryland knocked off Penn State in round one.

Everyone and their brother knows that the best tailgating on the list would be found at LSU, with Penn State being a close second.
