Rod Roberts Raises $50,000 at Kick-Off Fundraiser

robertsRepublican gubernatorial candidate Rod Roberts raised over $50,000 this evening in a fundraiser in Carroll. More than 100 individual supporters contributed at the fundraiser, which kicked off Roberts’s fall fundraising efforts.

“We are extraordinarily pleased with how successful tonight’s fundraiser was,” said Roberts, a five-term State Representative. “We knew the Carroll community was going to provide strong support, but raising over $50,000 in one night is tremendous.”

Roberts said the highly successful fundraising effort illustrates the growing interest in his exploratory campaign. Roberts has been traveling the state telling Iowans about his nine-year conservative record in the Iowa House of Representatives. As governor, Roberts has pledged not only to proactively address the state’s budget crisis by reigning in spending, but also to make sure Iowans can vote on a constitutional amendment to define marriage. Iowans have responded to this message, particularly with strong financial support through online, mail-in, and in-person contributions.

“Iowans want a full-fledged conservative to be the next governor. They don’t want just a fiscal conservative or just a social conservative, but a well-rounded conservative. I will be that type of governor,” said Roberts.

Campaign Manager Frank Severino, a veteran of heading up state-wide campaigns for Republicans, notes that Roberts’s exploratory campaign is already meeting its goals in fundraising and for boosting Roberts’s name recognition throughout the state.

“I am as convinced as ever that Rod Roberts should be the next governor of Iowa,” said Severino. “As more and more Iowans are getting the chance to meet Rod, they are coming to the conclusion that he is the type of Republican who can unite the party and then appeal to the independents and conservative Democrats who are needed to beat Chet Culver next year.”

Absolutely awesome! $50,000 in one night???? Rod’s campaign seems to have been really been picking up steam and he has great support. I can’t believe he raised that much in one evening!!!! He wouldn’t be able to do this if he didn’t have the respect of his constituents. Nobody could. He has their respect and support….this is some good, solid proof of why everyone should look more into who Rod Roberts really is.
