Why should Ron Paul forgo receiving money, stolen from the taxpayers in his district be asked to NOT receive money for worthwhile causes, such as a water project to feed the crops and people in his part of Texas? You might think it's principled to dismiss all earmarks, but fella, them there are the rules of the game. He's not using money to build butterfly parks, he's getting money back from the thieves who stole it. Russ, a politician can be principled and a dumb-ass at the same time. I prefer Ron Paul's approach. Take the earmarks when you can get them for worth while causes. If you don't, some jerk politician in Iowa might get an earmark to build a pond/lake named after himself, The Grand Pond Scum Lake... or maybe The Sh*t Hole. The rules for earmarks exist.
