Dave Jamison for State Treasurer

jamisonYesterday I wrote about possible State Treasurer candidate Senator Randy Feenstra. Today I’m going to focus on his possible primary opponent, Dave Jamison.

Jamison is currently the Story County Treasurer and has been since 1995. He’s known by most in the Republican circle for his work as a Republican State Central Committee Member. He’s an Iowa State graduate in business management and a former Marine. Jamison also co-founded the Iowa Republican County Officials Association which helps Republicans get elected across the state. For any of you who have talked to him, you know he’s just a really good guy.

Jamison is a very good Republican. He’s been involved for years in helping other Republicans get elected. He’s the type of guy who will do what’s right without overtly running over the opposition. He’s a fiscal and social conservative who, if he works hard enough, will be an excellent candidate for State Treasurer.

With his name on the primary ballot, alongside Feenstra’s, we’ll have a very competitive race for State Treasurer. I have to admit, I do wish they wouldn’t primary each other. They are both good men and I’d hate to see them go after each other. Although, I don’t think either will get down into the gutter with their campaigns.

It is shaping up to be a strong election year for Republicans. We have good candidates going after the statewide races. That’s always a sign of a shift in momentum. We also have some excellent candidates down the ballot. But I’ll get into that a little later in the election cycle.

Before the idiots come on here to make stupid, moronic and idiotic claims about Randy Feenstra that were proven untrue yesterday, I feel the need to pre-empt.

Want to know more about Dave Jamison before you spout off with your crazy nonsense?

Here is Dave’s campaign website URL. You would think Constitution Daily would do a little more research and provide this information in the posts but maybe that is too much work.

Besides being the Story Co. treas., what else has he done? Not being critical, I’d just like to see these guys resume’.

Timmy, do you know anything about a google search? Hayzeus Christo you are L.A.Z.Y. Didn’t see the URL there? His whole bio/resume is there. Need help clicking on links too? No wonder we are in the minority and out of power everywhere.

Madison, I take offense at your accusations. I’m not trashing these guys, I just want to see some detailed qualifications for these job applicants(which is what they are). I have to provide a resume to prospective employers, why shouldn’t they?

Madison, all I asked for was to put it out in the article instead of having to chase down links. Why do you have your panties in such a wad?

  • Madison wrote on 19 June, 2009, 7:50

Timmy, I am glad you take offense.

If you are unable to click on links for other websites, would you like me to copy and paste their resumes into the comment section? Would that be easier for you?

Timmy, you sound like a complaining liberal. I bet you are. Always want someone else to do something for you.

At the time I wrote my posts there weren’t any links posted and I don’t want to have to do a google search of every damn time I read an article. Some of us out here didn’t grow up with a damn computer on 24/7 and actually enjoy the time away for it. The only time I come here is to check for any relavant news on the GOP and get into an occasional exchange with the posters. Usually it’s considered common courtesy when someone asks for information to share it with them is to be kind enough to reply without being snarky. BTW, are you always this pleasant?

Madison, you have no clue about me or my political views, but maybe if you actually took the time to look thru the archives you could have figured it out.(LOL!)

At the risk of intervening in this charming discussion of the relative merits of the correspondents, perhaps a few words about Jamison and what he has done in office and for the Republicans may be in order. I lived in Story County in the 1990’s. When Dave Jamison took office in Story County, his predecessor was a very nice, very elderly lady who had, unfortunately, let the office go down hill somewhat. There was some complaint about tax sales for some individuals simply going by the boards, instead of being held as the law required, thus, one property in Ames had ten years of accumulated property taxes. There was also some question of whether the office was being run in an efficient and business-like manner; certainly there were some bad investment choices. Jamison changed that by reorganizing the office so that every clerk did both property tax and license plate (and anyone who has waited in line for license plates while the tax clerks do not much, or vice versa, can appreciate that.) He also made sure that the clerks actually behaved nicely, which is almost unheard of in some other county courthouses. He implemented computerization efforts. He began working to bring transparency to the other county offices, much to the chagrin of the Democrats and a few retired-in-place Republicans. He has implemented a political effort to elect more Republicans to county offices, something which was badly overdue. There are no exciting investments, but, neither are there massive losses of money like in the Iowa Trust. So from my point of view, this is actually a welcome development, and I think the rest of the state will like what it sees when it gets to know Jamison a bit better.

Thanks wombat1, that is the kind of information I’ve been wanting to know.
