Madison: I apologize, not only for not having the time to Google everyone featured on this website, but also for a possible insinuation that Randy's youthfulness casts aspersions on his ability. The intent of my comment was not in any way to suggest that Randy was too young or inexperienced. All I meant was that since he is young and has served for a while in city positions in Hull, in Sioux County and the General Assembly that I made the mistake from his youthfulness that this was the extent of his professional background. I am more than willing to continue to call myself an Idiot, but hopefully this explanation shows why I don't speak nonsense. Signed Anonymous the Idiot.

anonymous..."didn't know he was old enough to have one"?

Isn't Randy about 40ish? People in their late 30's or early 40's aren't old enough to have business experience? I learn something new from this site every day.

Running for a state wide office does require serious campaigning skill. Even though his resume seems fitting, you need to look at how contested the elections Sen. Feenstra has been part of. He did not have an opponent in the primary or general for his current role as State Senator. He did not have a challenge for County Treasurer. He is a smart guy, but he does not really have any election experience which could prove to hurt his chances.

anonymous,

it's Ms. Madison not Mr. Madison. Secondly, please actually do some research next time before spouting off with your nonsense. As you can see from looking at Feenstra's website, he has an impressive record and impressive resume.

Too many idiots on this site.

Mr. Madison and Randy - sorry I didn't google first. Good to know that Randy has a business background. Didn't think he was old enough to have one. And he has been an impresive state senator with a great blog and a county treasurer, both of which also counts.. Signed Anonymous the idiot.

Wow...the idiocy of the people on this blog never ceases to amaze me! Do any of you really know how to do a google search???

Let's see here...Randy served 7 years as the head of sales for the Foreign Candy Company in Hull. Impressive position and very much a private-sector operation. He has also served as the SIOUX COUNTY TREASURER. So you idiots...he has already served as a county treasurer - a microcasm of the job he is being rumored for. In addition, he has served as a city administrator. Therefore, I just want to make it clear...if you people would actually do a little research...this site would be more worthwhile. Idiots everywhere.

The above link is a good biographical story on Sen. Feenstra.

Randy Feenstra would make a good candidate for treasurer, but calling him a businessman is a little like calling Chet Culver a businessman because he is the governor. They are alike in that they have both worked exclusively in public sector jobs. That shouldn't disqualify Randy from being a good treasurer candidate, though.

I've been there many times, it is thriving and an abberation compared to the rest of the state. Last time I checked it was 82% registered Republican voters, is that still true? My question is what has he done in the private sector?
