You know how the pro-gay marriage crowd gets all up in arms when the pro-traditional marriage crowd points out that legal acceptance of homosexuality and gay marriage will impact everyone, especially kids?
Well, here is yet another example of that.
Despite the fact that Californians voted to legally define marriage as a union between one man and one woman, some local school boards have their own ideas about how to indoctrinate the younger generations about these issues, so that, 20 years from now, they won’t lose a popular vote like they did with Proposition 8.
At least one California school board has decided to implement a curriculum that includes “compulsory lessons about the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.”
Starting at age 5.
And parents cannot remove their children from these indoctrinations, I mean, lessons.
But what if a huge majority of parents came together and told the school board they did not want this? They’d have to listen, right?
Um, no.
Because that’s exactly what’s happened. The vast majority of parents who have attended public forums have been against this new curriculum, but the school board doesn’t seem to care. They plan on implementing the new curriculum anyways.
Advocates of the program say that this is necessary to prevent bullying. How about we enable teachers to actually discipline kids so that when kids are mean for any reason, they get in trouble and learn to never do it again (meanwhile setting an example for other kids not to do the same thing)?
Of course, that would work, but then we wouldn’t be able to indoctrinate kids to think that homosexuality is normal and acceptable in the process.
So I guess we know what this is really about.

Who cares? As much as you bigots can’t wrap your mind around it, homosexuality is normal and acceptable. I hope every child in america learns that lesson.
I will say this, though, I’d be upset if my kids were being taught that it is okay for a man to pretend to be a woman and write an online conservative column. Would you agree with me, “Emily.”
Whether you agree with the acceptance of homosexuality or not, teaching kids not to tease and bully each other is a worthy goal. The students do need to learn that it’s not OK to call anyone “fag” or any other slur.
Whether you agree with the acceptance of homosexuality or not, school is a place where EVERYONE should be accepted.
Listen to what Ridge and Powell said on Sunday. Jettison the fear stuff. What a way to live life with a bogeyman ready at every corner to pounce on unsuspecting Christians and their children ready to carry them away. Focus on inclusivity.
Steve Wrong: Has AIDS gotten to your head? Homosexuality is neither normal or accepted. The truth is it is highly dangerous–far more dangerous than smoking.
Wierd that the same anti-smoking nazis can be pro-homosexuality at the same time.
We really need to tax homosexuality so that we can use the resulting tax revenue to finance increased health costs of homosexuals.
It’s only fair.
Smokers are like gamblers, sorta; gamblers are losers but smokers are smelly losers.
And homosexuals are bigger losers yet.
DVFO,
Weren’t you lecturing me last week on civil discourse? Guess your bigotry is clouding your manners. I’m okay with it, because I know you’re a bigot, so I would rather you just own up to it than try to play the bigger person.
Homosexuality is only abnormal and unacceptable to nutjobs like DVFO and Peggy. The rational world has grown to understand that you folks are bigots and need to be ignored.
So how do you feel about the Democrats bringing Pelosi to Iowa.
The problem with Democrats is that they can’t imagine that radical Islam is after their rear ends as much as Republicans.
Liar Pelosi deserves scorn–not respect for what she said about the CIA. She is a threat to our security.
And you don’t realize there really isn’t much difference between your brand of radical christianity and radical islam.
Nice red herring, though. It’s probably the only thing you do well.
DV: /So how do you feel about the Democrats bringing Pelosi to Iowa.

Geeze!, 3 unrelated-to-the blog-subject subjects in 3 sentences.
Kinda short on attention span there, DV, eh? Tad heavy on the nicotine this morn?
Geez, why in the hell can’t we just let 5 year olds be 5 year olds? They have their whole lives to become as cynical as the rest of us! Alls they really need to know is how to color inside the lines and not to eat the paste.
LIberal definition of bigotry – anyone who doesn’t accept my values and let me shove my morality down their throat.
These are the people who run around berating Christians for preaching absolute moral values, then with a hypocrisy that’s faster than a speeding bullet says things like ‘homosexuality is normal and acceptable,’ and then about facing again and slandering people for wanting to own a gun, a SUV, or have a few too many kids or too much money.
They can live their lifestyle and practice their morality, but you can’t do that with yours. Inclusive when they want to be, exclusive when it suits them. It amazes me how they can push their hypocritical religious dogma in the arena of public policy and not be in violation of their beloved separation of church and state.
Matt: Religion should be kept out of politics. Repubs should forget about the “gay issues.” Rather we should be focusing on traditional conservative values such as 1) strong defense, 2) fiscal responsibility, 3) promotion of the free market, 4) personal freedom and 5) foreign policy restraint. All other issues such as litmus tests for abortion, gay rights etc, should be considered secondary. Using politics as a platform for advancing religious causes is a sure way to perpetuating minority status for the Party.
Why? Using politics as a platform for advancing religious causes has worked well for the Democrats.
Actually I agree, but I think you see my point.
Mod, I’d push personal freedom a bit higher on the list of priorities. It’s really starting to resonate among the public as they are starting to realize what they have lost. If the GOP would catch on and take the lead on this issue I guarantee that they would be able to attract independents, libertarians, and some like-minded dems. It isn’t just the base that are freedom loving Americans!
I think you are exactly right Timmy. We’ve found our platform, we need to exploit it.
Sharp Hawkeye,
You are incredibly naive.
Students dabbling in homosexuality shouldn’t be treated any differently than any other kid in school. As it is, though, they are being given special treatment and set apart with anti-bullying programs geared specifically for them. It’s nothing less than indoctrination and de-sensitization of those who believe homosexual behaviors are immoral.
Need proof? Look at the history of the Iowa Civil Rights Commission and the devolvement of the Iowa Safe Schools Task Force.
They’re getting special treatment from the school because they’re getting special treatment from the bullies.
At the school I was student teaching at this spring we had a special presentation on why you shouldn’t bully mentally disabled students and why it wasn’t appropriate to call people or things “retarded”. Is this some kind of indoctrination or desensitization on the part of people pushing the “retarded agenda”?
Why isn’t it enough to have rules and punishment for all bullying, no matter what the reason?
Most of the time, when kids tease each other and call each other “gay,” they know that’s not really true.
Taunts about being fat or poor are just as harmful, but apparently that’s perfectly okay for kids to use against each other since those aren’t “special classes” of people.
“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” works for every situation. We don’t need to be divided into groups.
The difference between the mentally challenged and those engaging in homosexuality is huge. One is a birth defect and the other is a behavior.
How about a class on how not to castigate kids who openly masturbate in the halls or de-pants nerds?
Lydia,
You said, “Most of the time, when kids tease each other and call each other “gay,” they know that’s not really true.”
This is true but most American teens have also re-defined the word gay to mean stupid.
Is it just me or wasn’t the article referring kindergarten aged kids? They need to have the time to just be kids!!!
