New 3rd CD Ad: Iowa’s Answer is not magic, it’s David Young

(Van Meter, IA – In his first campaign ad in the Third District GOP primary, Republican candidate David Young transforms an Obama HOPE bumper sticker into an American flag.

In the ad, Young states that despite President Obama promising us hope, he has instead “ripped apart our economy, shredded our healthcare system, and crumbled our national security.”

At the end of the ad, Young transforms the bumper sticker into a worn American flag representing the resiliency of the American people and spirit. Young explained, “If we band together and fight for our conservative principles, we can put our economy and our country back together again.”

The ad will air on broadcast television and on cable stations beginning Monday, April 28, in the Des Moines and Omaha-Council Bluffs media markets.

“I have campaigned in communities in every county in the district and the message I receive from voters is the same – Americans always maintain hope about the United States, but they believe the President has not fulfilled the promises of his campaign,” explained Young. “The Third District wants a congressman that listens to them and proposes commonsense solutions to help get our country back on track, and I am ready to get to work to do just that.”

Young explained, “We must promote price transparency in the health care system and allow insurance plans to compete across state lines. Both solutions would save tens of billions of dollars in our health care system by creating competition which would not only drive down prices, but also promote better health care services.”

“The best way to help the economy is to reduce spending and create an environment that encourages investment and growth instead of increasing spending to unprecedented levels of debt and burdensome government regulations,” said Young. “My better budget principles are: (1) enacting a balanced budget amendment and zero-based budgeting; (2) implementing a full-federal audit; (3) repealing Obamacare; and (4) making the tax code flatter, fairer, simpler and permanent.”

“Instead of cutting military funding arbitrarily like the President has, we must reform the contracting practices between the federal government and defense contractors and address waste and mismanagement in the Pentagon to save the taxpayers money and bolster our military strength,” said Young. “We are reminded every day how dangerous this world is with the situations going on in Ukraine, Syria, Iran, North Korea and other parts of the world and we must promote peace through strength,” said Young.

David Young is former Chief of Staff to U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley. He has received endorsements from former Iowa U.S. Congressmen Jim Ross Lightfoot and Tom Tauke. He has also received endorsements from Iowa State Representative Pat Grassley, former Iowa State Auditor Richard Johnson and County Auditors from Dallas, Fremont, Guthrie and Montgomery counties.
