Third district congressional hopeful Monte Shaw announces that former state Rep. Carmine Boal has endorsed his candidacy and will co-chair his campaign.
The press release from Shaw’s campaign is below:
WEST DES MOINES – Iowa farm advocate Monte Shaw today announced the endorsement of conservative leader and former Iowa State Representative Carmine Boal of Ankeny. Boal cited Shaw’s combination of conservative values and history of effective advocacy on behalf of Iowans for her support. She joins former US Congressman Greg Ganske and conservative grassroots activist Jon King as co-chairs of his campaign.
Boal stated: “I am very proud to support Monte Shaw in the race for the 3rd Congressional District. Monte will listen in Iowa and be heard in Washington. No other candidate has his proven skills of successful advocacy for conservative causes. He won’t just vote right, he will be a leader from day one.”
Boal serves on the boards of Ruth Harbor and the Iowa Association of Christian Schools. She was elected to the Ankeny School Board in 1996. In 1998 she was elected to the Iowa House of Representatives where she served her Ankeny House district for ten years. Following her service there she worked as the Policy and Development Director for the Iowa Alliance for Choice in Education. In 2010 she joined the Branstad 2010 campaign as Policy Director, and after Governor Branstad’s election joined the Governor’s staff as the Director of State Boards and Commissions. Since November of 2012 she has served as the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives.

“I have admired Carmine for years and it is a true honor to have her support,” stated Shaw. “She has always been an unapologetic conservative on one hand, but approached the issues and other people with such thoughtfulness that she gained wide admiration across party lines. Quite frankly, I have tried to model my approach to public service on Carmine’s example.”
Highlighting Shaw’s ability to unite Republicans, Boal joins an impressive list of endorsements from leaders who actually live and vote in the Third District. In addition to Boal, King and Ganske, Shaw has the support of former Republican Party of Iowa State Chair Matt Strawn, State Representative Jack Drake, western Iowa financial leader Mick Guttau, and key agriculture leaders from throughout the Third District.
