Branstad Campaign Shatters Fundraising Record, Reports Highest-Ever Cash-On-Hand Amount

(URBANDALE, Iowa) – Gov. Terry Branstad and Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds today announced they will report more than $4.5 million cash-on-hand when their campaign disclosure report is filed prior to the May 19, 2014 deadline. Additionally, the Branstad-Reynolds campaign announced it had raised more than $1.1 million in the first reporting period of 2014 (Jan 1 – May 14, 2014).

This campaign account balance represents the largest ever by a candidate for governor in Iowa at the end of a reporting period. The previous record for cash-on-hand was set at the end of 2013 by Gov. Branstad’s campaign with $4.1 million.

“We continue to set ambitious goals for fundraising, and I am pleased to say that we have exceeded every one of them,” said Gov. Branstad. “As always, Lieutenant Governor Reynolds and I are humbled by the support we’ve received from Iowans who believe in our message of building Iowa’s future with new jobs, more economic opportunity, better education for our children, higher family incomes, lower taxes and a more efficient government.”

“Now that the legislative session has wrapped up, our campaign will kick into high gear as we engage with voters and present our vision for the future of Iowa,” said Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds. “We will continue to promote policies that have put Iowans back to work by restarting the economic engine of our state, and we will sustain that momentum with high quality education for the jobs of the future. We have worked to bring in more than $8.8 billion in private capital investment in our state in the past three years—and we’re just getting started. Governor Branstad and I are so thankful for the generosity of Iowans who believe in our message and vision.”

“Gov. Branstad wants this campaign to be the best one he’s ever run, and we are meeting that challenge by building the strongest grassroots campaign in the history of Iowa Republicans,” said Jake Ketzner, Branstad-Reynolds campaign manager. “With record-breaking fundraising and more than 2,000 co-chairs in all 99 counties, the strong Branstad-Reynolds organization will be working to elect Republicans up and down the ticket in November.”

The campaign has more than 15,000 donors and will report 98 percent of this period’s donations came from Iowa.

The full report will be available to the public upon filing.
