Today Rod Blum, Republican candidate for United States Congress in Iowa’s First District, released his campaign’s first television commercial, a thirty-second ad titled “With Honors.”
The ad tells the story of Malcolm Stewart. After his father was killed in a Chicago drug deal, Malcolm and his mother moved to Dubuque, where he played basketball for Rod Blum at Dubuque Senior high school. Malcolm was orphaned when his mother passed away from cancer at age 42, and the Blums took him into their family. Last May, Malcolm graduated with honors from the University of Dubuque and now works in the finance industry.
“With Rod as our nominee, the Republican party has a very real chance to win back this district in 2014,” said campaign spokesman Paul Smith. “This ad speaks to all voters in Eastern Iowa, regardless of party, who are tired of the status quo in Washington and are looking for true leadership rather than typical political rhetoric.”
The commercial will run beginning Friday, May 2 in the Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, and Dubuque TV market of the 1st Congressional District.
Rod Blum is a Republican candidate for United States Congress in Iowa’s 1st District. The only candidate in Iowa to be recognized by the National Republican Congressional Committee’s Young Guns program, Rod graduated with a finance degree from Loras College and received his MBA from the University of Dubuque. He is the clear fundraising leader in the GOP race, with over six times the cash-on-hand amount of the next closest candidate, and has been endorsed by Steve Forbes, who will campaign with Rod in Cedar Rapids this May. A lifelong resident of Dubuque and current owner of Digital Canal Corporation, Rod is married to Karen Blum and has five children. For more information please visit: www.RodBlum.com.
