TIR at RightOnline

TheIowaRepublican.com will report from Orlando Thurs. to Sat. as Americans for Prosperity hosts its annual RightOnline conference.

As noted by fellow attendee and Caffeinated Thoughts blogger Shane Vander Hart, RightOnline features experts in new media, online organizing, data, and other topics. Hundreds of bloggers, policy advocates and political strategists will converge to discuss the latest tactics to impact policy in favor of limited government, free enterprise and individual liberty.

Americans for Prosperity launched RightOnline in 2008 as a counterweight to the Netroots Nation Conference, a gathering of left-wing new media types and activists. Since then, RightOnline has expanded into a broader initiative that includes state-based and local grassroots training seminars aimed at increasing citizen participation in the public policy process through online tools.

The packed agenda features a panel on data facilitated by AFP Iowa State Director Mark Lucas. Lucas has been making waves in Iowa recently as AFP is waging an issue advocacy campaign against Rep. Bruce Braley, the likely Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate. Kathie Obradovich profiled Lucas recently in the Des Moines Register, and the Sioux City Journal detailed AFP Iowa’s August tour called “Big Government Braley.”

Stay tuned for more details and reports from the conference. Ping TIR with questions, story ideas and comments at @PatchIowa or jeff@theiowarepublican.com.
