Patch Will Provide the Watchdog Some Bite

TheIowaRepublican.com’s Jeff Patch has taken a position with the Franklin Center for Government and Public Integrity to lead their Iowa news site, IowaWatchdog.org as its Iowa Bureau Chief.

Patch started his media career as a production assistant at the now-defunct FOX News affiliate in Dubuque, his hometown. He has written for the Telegraph Herald, The Daily Iowan, the Des Moines Register, Politico.com, The Wall Street Journal, and Reason.com. Patch has also worked as a press secretary for a member of Congress, a fiscal policy analyst for the Cato Institute, and as the communications director for a libertarian campaign finance think tank.

Patch’s most notable work while with TheIowaRepublican.com was his investigative reporting on the controversial Harkin Institute.  Patch’s work will be missed on these pages, but his teaming up with the Franklin Center is a fantastic fit that will provide Iowans more information about and insight into to how their government functions.  There is no doubt that Patch will give IowaWatchdog.org some more bite.

We wish Jeff all the best in his new endeavor.
