Health Care Costs to Increase Braley Claimed ObamaCare Would Decrease Costs
A new report published by the non-partisan Society of Actuaries shows that ObamaCare, which Bruce Braley supported despite the wishes of Iowans, will increase the costs of medical claims in Iowa by more than 9 percent and by an average of 32 percent nationally. The AP reports, “That’s likely to increase premiums for at least some Americans buying individual plans.”
When voting for ObamaCare in 2010, Braley said the health care law “will decrease health insurance costs” (Rep. Bruce Braley, “Braley Statement on House Passage of Health Care Reform,” Press Release, 3/22/10).
The report’s findings come on the heels of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius’ admission that Americans will see medical costs increase due to the Affordable Care Act. “These folks will be moving into a really fully insured product for the first time, so there may be a higher cost associated with getting into that market,” said Sebelius.
