When the Solyndra scandal broke, Barack Obama’s campaign responded in the same way they have to all the failures of the Obama White House—they blamed Bush. “The reality,” said campaign spokesman Lis Smith, “is that Solyndra received funding through a Department of Energy program created under the Bush administration.”
Now we know the Obama campaign was trying to deceive us. In reality, Solyndra officials referred to the Obama administration in 2009 as the “bank of Washington.” As the congressional investigation of Solyndra continues, we are learning just how deep the connections were between the Obama White House and Solyndra.
Which brings us to an email sent to 2008 Obama campaign director David Plouffe and 2012 Obama deputy campaign director Stephanie Cutter in August 2011. “This is going to be a real pain, solyndra is about to go under apparently,” says the email. Cutter’s response? “Ugh.”
Yes, Stephanie. The American people know just how you feel.
