Tjepkes Endorses Bleam in HD 10 Race with Shaw

Iowa House Representative David Tjepkes (R-Gowrie) announces his support for Maison Bleam over Representative Tom Shaw (R-Laurens) in the GOP primary for House District 10. Tjepkes is retiring from the legislature. He currently represents House District 50, which covers Calhoun and Greene counties, and part of Webster County. Redistricting merged part of Tjepkes’ and Shaw’s districts together.

Below is the press release sent Tuesday by Representative Tjepkes:

In the ten years since I have been representing the people of Iowa as a State Representative in Des Moines, I have had the privilege of serving alongside many hard working and dedicated public servants, and I have seen first hand the work it takes to be an effective legislator.  I have also seen individuals go to Des Moines to posture and play political games, sparing no expense in their search for a headline.  I am writing today to tell you without a doubt, Maison Bleam has what it takes to represent the people of the newly redistricted House District 10 and bring common sense solutions to the State Capitol, not more of the inflammatory rhetoric and hyperbole that has poisoned our state government.

Maison was born and raised in Calhoun County and understands the concerns of Iowa’s families and small businesses.  He has spent countless hours representing the people of Iowa in his time working as Special Assistant to Congressman Steve King. and has seen up close the intricacies of state government and policy.  Today, Maison is working on his family’s farm outside Manson.  Maison will not be a rubber stamp for special interests in Des Moines.  Too many candidates for office today play fast and loose with rhetoric, but shy away from the solutions that Iowans desperately crave.  What Calhoun, Humboldt, Pocahontas and Webster county deserve is a State Representative who will take seriously the issues of the day and fight for real solutions to Iowa’s problems.  This new district is rich in agriculture and deserves representation down in Des Moines who understands the issues associated with running a family farm.  Maison will be that Representative.  The policies of NO are not enough, and the choices we make at the ballot box will affect our children and grandchildren.  As a resident and voter of House District 10, I will be casting my vote in the Republican primary on Tuesday, June 5th for Maison Bleam.  I have total confidence in Maison’s ability to represent District 10’s values and principles.

Respectfully,

State Representative Dave Tjepkes,  Gowrie, IA
