GOP vice-presidential nominee Paul Ryan drew large crowds in the Republican strongholds of Council Bluffs and Sioux City on Sunday. The events marked Ryan’s first visits to the western side of state and the Wisconsin congressman did not disappoint.

With the final presidential debate on the docket for Monday night and the polls showing a very tight race around the country, Iowa Republicans are energized as we head into the final two weeks of the campaign. More than 1,200 people showed up to hear Ryan speak over the noon hour at the Bass Pro Shop in Council Bluffs.

“We have a big responsibility,” Ryan said. “Iowa and a couple of other states may very well determine what country we are going to be and what kind of country we are going to have.”
