RPI Calls Special Nominating Convention for HD 90

Republican Party of Iowa Chairman A.J. Spiker issued the call for a special nominating convention for House District 90 in Davenport. The Special Nominating Convention will be used to fill a vacancy on the ballot.

Scott County GOP Chair Judy Davidson said she has heard speculation on some potential candidates, but had not heard anything conclusive at this point. One potential candidate who had recently expressed interest in running is dealing with a recent death in the family, so Davidson is unsure if he will still run.

The Republican nominee will face Democrat incumbent Cindy Winckler. She has served in the House since 2001. Democrats hold a voter registration edge of more than 5,600 in HD 90.

The details of the convention are as follows:

7:00 p.m.
Thursday, August 9

Special Nominating Convention House District-90

Davenport Public Library-Fairmount Branch

3000 North Fairmount Street

Davenport, IA 52804

The convention will be called to order by Republican Party of Iowa co-chair Bill Schickel. Eighteen Scott County Central Committee members, who represent precincts in House District 90, are eligible to be voting delegates at the convention.
