King Unveils Four-Point Plan to Get America Working

(SAC CITY, IA) – Congressman King (R-Kiron) today unveiled his four-point plan to get America working at the first stop of his “Restoring Our American Dream” town hall tour.

The full plan can be read here.

“If we are to restore our American dream, we must get America, and Iowans in the 4th Congressional District back to work,” said King. “The disastrous policies of President Obama and Nancy Pelosi have sent this country into dangerous amounts of debt, record unemployment and stifled economic growth. The four-point plan I have offered today will repeal ObamaCare, balance our federal budget, produce and harness Iowa’s renewable energy and create jobs by encouraging growth.”

Congressman King’s four-point plan to get America working is as follows:

1.     Repeal ObamaCare

2.     Balance the federal budget through a balanced budget amendment

3.     Produce and harness American-made energy and gain jobs in Iowa’s renewable fuels industry

4.     Create jobs by encouraging growth

“The first step is to repeal Obama and Pelosi’s government-run healthcare, better known as ObamaCare, that makes $532 billion in cuts to Medicare. Not only is ObamaCare unconstitutional, it is incredibly irresponsible and puts all of our health care at risk, especially that of seniors.” King stated.

Once ObamaCare is fully repealed, Congressman King proposes the enactment of true health care reform solutions that will harness the power of the free market to create competition. King is calling for consumer-focused healthcare, the expansion of Health Savings Accounts, selling insurance across state lines, full deductibility of everyone’s health insurance premiums and meaningful medical lawsuit reform. Enacting these reforms will remove costs from businesses who can then invest the savings in expansion, new technology and a larger and better paid workforce.

King’s plan calls for Congress to pass a Balanced Budget Constitutional Amendment and send it to the states for ratification.

“Washington is addicted to out-of-control spending that is mortgaging our grandchildren’s future,” said King. “A Balanced Budget Amendment, which I have long supported, has received bipartisan support and would give Iowans the opportunity to vote on a Constitutional Amendment that would reign in irresponsible Washington spending.”

Congressman King also calls for an “all of the above” energy strategy that would encourage, not prohibit, American energy. King calls for the immediate approval of the Keystone XL Pipeline, which would create thousands of jobs, and continued support for Iowa’s renewable energy like biofuels and wind. Harnessing and harvesting renewable energy throughout America and Iowa’s 4th Congressional District will help restore our American dream.

The final point of King’s plan calls for creating economic opportunities by creating economic certainty.

“As a self made small businessman, I know small businesses need economic certainty to create jobs, but Washington bureaucrats continue to be an impediment as they impose onerous regulations,” said King. “My four-point plan to get America back to work would require Congress to vote on new regulations and stop a looming, ten-year tax increase that will be $494 billion in 2013 alone. This measure would hold Washington accountable to the people and provide the stability needed for business to grow.”

The United States Chamber of Commerce has endorsed Congressman King.  In the endorsement, Chamber President and CEO Thomas J. Donohue told King, “We believe your re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives will help produce sustained economic growth, help create more jobs, and get our country back on track.”

Congressman King’s passion for putting Americans back to work has been recognized by many organizations. King was awarded the “USA Wind jobs Champion Award” by the American Wind Energy Association, the “Guardian of Small Business Award” by the National Federation of Independent Business, the “Tax Fighter Award” by the National Tax Limitation Committee and the “Taxpayer Hero Award” from the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste.

The “Restoring Our American Dream” tour continues through Wednesday and will make stops in Pocahontas, Humboldt, Garner, Mason City, New Hampton, Parkersburg, Clarion, Jefferson and Fort Dodge before concluding with the grand opening of King’s Ames office.
