Kevin’s Korner: Liberal Logic, Hiding Behind Hyde, and The Sorenson Swipe

Greetings and welcome to Kevin’s Korner. The robbed that smiles steals something from the thief.

One of Harry Reid’s former donors told me the Dem senate leader sleeps with sheep. The burden of proof is on him to prove that he doesn’t … See how that works, Harry? I’m using liberal logic … Or lack thereof.

I’m humbled by the reaction to the first ever Kevin’s Korner endorsement. Last week, I voiced my full support for Chick-fil-A sandwiches … I knew this column was popular with literally dozens and dozens of people, but when tens of thousands turned out at Chick-fil-A’s across the country last week, the response overwhelmed me … For your next assignment, I want you to pick a fight with a total stranger. And lose … What? Oh … Who’s Mike Huckabee? …

Despite what the libs want you to believe, last week’s massive show of support for Chick-fil-A was not about “hating gays”. In fact, Chick-fil-A’s CEO said nothing remotely close to expressing hate for gays. He simply said he supports the “biblical definition of the family unit” … Interesting how none of those who called him a homophobe and countless other names never used those words to define Barack Obama, who held the same view until his recent pander-filled change of heart

And there might not be a bigger hypocrite in the country right now than Obama’s former chief of staff, the mayor of Chicago, Rahm Emanuel, who claimed “Chick-fil-A’s values are not Chicago’s values” … But those values were good enough for the White House as long as a liberal resided there …

Happy belated birthday to President Obama. I’m glad you had a chance to celebrate by playing the 104th round of golf of your presidency … Maybe you haven’t noticed, but unemployment is back up to 8.3%, but you have been “too busy” to meet with your jobs council for six months …

On the bright side, at least Obama isn’t sleeping through his term, as Congressman Dave Loebsack seems to do. Iowa’s “least effective member” of Congress napped during the ObamaCare hearings and has done little nothing to bring jobs, lower taxes or reduce the deficit for his 2nd District constituents. Iowans deserve better than Lazy Davey Loebsack

I saw an Obama TV ad on Saturday that attacks Mitt Romney for “only” paying 14% in taxes in 2010. What the ad doesn’t say is that means Romney submitted $2.8 million to government … Again, liberal logic: The god of government deserves millions more …

More fun with liberal logic … The paradoxically titled lefty blog ThinkProgress published a story last week claiming manmade global warming caused streetlights in Oklahoma to melt … Other lefties lemmings immediately picked up the story and tried to use it to attack Republican Senator James Imhofe, a global warming denier person with common sense, who they accuse of not listening to science …

Of course, the lefties could not be bothered with pesky things like researching the facts, scientific or otherwise … Hot temperatures don’t melt streetlights. The lights in the picture melted due to a dumpster fire the night before.

Former Michele Bachmann campaign staffers are coming out of the woodwork to backup Barb Heki’s claims in her lawsuit that Iowa State Senator Kent Sorenson stole the NICHE list off her computer and the higher-ups in the campaign knew about it … Heki told me that even Michele Bachmann knew of the alleged Sorenson Swipe, even though Heki took the fall for it … Much more on this issue and other Bachmann campaign shenanigans coming this week  here on TIR …

I continue to be disappointed by Governor Branstad for his lack of leadership in the effort to end taxpayer-funded abortions. On Friday, Branstad’s DHS director rejected a petition from Iowa House members asking him to cease charging taxpayers for fetal anomaly abortions and follow the law, as it was passed, by the 2011 Iowa Legislature … Branstad’s office told me months ago that this decision ultimate lies with him. Well Governor, it’s time to step-up and order your department to follow the law …

It is also time for bureaucrats, to stop hiding behind the Hyde Amendment for excuses to charge taxpayers for abortion … The Hyde Amendment spells out three exceptions it makes for providing federally funded taxpayer abortions. It does not require states to do the same … Interestingly, when it suits their needs, the pro-aborts also argue that Hyde only applies to federal, not state, funds …

There is word going around the ‘net that Iowa gymnast extraordinaire Gabby Douglas signed a $90 million endorsement deal with Kelloggs after collecting two Olympic gold medals. Don’t believe the hype … The story seems to stem from a New York Post article that claims the sixteen year old has the potential to earn that much over the next few years. She hasn’t yet … There is no doubt, as the first black gymnast, male or female, to win the all around gymnastics gold at the Olympics, Douglas is an inspiration to millions

BTW, I don’t think Liang Chow gets nearly enough credit for his remarkable coaching. After seeing how Chow helped mold Shawn Johnson and Gabby Douglas, it’s hard not to argue that the West Des Moines resident is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, gymnastics coach in the world … Chow became a U.S. citizen in 2002 … He also has great taste in names. Chow and his wife named their only child “Kevin”.

ABC did a great story on Gabby’s mom and the Iowa family that took Gabby in so she could train with Chow … Douglas has made all Americans proud. And you’ll note, she had a lot of help along the way, but it didn’t come from any government entity. She built this.

That’s it for this week. Thanks for dropping by. The only true wisdom is knowing that you know nothing.
