Greetings and welcome to Kevin’s Korner. A liar begins with making falsehood appear like truth, and ends with making truth itself appear like falsehood.
Most politicians stretch the truth at times, but the Democrat Party really outdid itself last week. I mean, these guys don’t tell little white lies or half-truths. They shamelessly go the full monty.
Let’s start with last Sunday in Davenport, when Iowa 2nd District Congressman Dave Loebsack claimed, “I made it very clear publicly that I have absolutely no beef with John Deere.” … Really, Dave? Really!?! … How many hundreds of thousands of dollars have you spent on television ads that disparage John Deere? … What’s next? Are you going to tell us you’re not the least effective member of Iowa’s congressional delegation?
Then there’s Leonard “Gollum” Boswell, who criticized Tom Latham for running negative ads. Leonard’s hypocrisy truly knows no bounds … Boswell has not run one single positive ad in at least his last two campaigns … How will he react when Latham casts Boswell’s precious power into Mount Doom on November 6?
Give Gollum credit for being honest about one thing, though. He showed his true liberal leanings by coming out strongly in favor of raising the federal gas tax: “I think we’re going to have to raise the gas tax. I think we must do that,” Gollum said during last Wednesday’s debate. … That’s right. With gas prices hovering around $3.70 a gallon in Iowa, greedy Gollum Boswell thinks we should pay even more at the pump.
Try as they might, the dishonesty of Loebsack and Boswell pales in comparison to Joe Biden. He might have supplanted Bill Clinton as the premier liar American politics … I’m not sure what happened more during Thursday’s debate: Biden interrupting Paul Ryan or Biden flat-out lying. He lied when he said he “voted against” the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. He lied when he said Catholic institutions were not being forced to cover contraception. He lied about not having a lobotomy in 1997.
Saturday Night Live summed up Thursday’s debate pretty well. They said Ryan prepared by studying policy. Biden prepared by “shotgunning Red Bulls and watching Yosemite Sam cartoons.” … Did Joe Biden act like a complete buffoon in that debate? Sure did.
As for the Benghazi attacks which resulted in the deaths of four Americans, let’s give Joe and Barack the benefit of the doubt and accept that they were not informed about the numerous requests for more security in Libya, as Lyin’ Biden claims … Maybe if Obama had not skipped more than 60% of his daily intelligence briefings, including all of them the week before the 9/11 anniversary, he would have known about the requests … I hope Romney hammers Obama on this in Tuesday’s debate …
It’s clear Biden and Obama are not going to accept the blame for this disaster. No sir. They’re going to find a fall guy. Or gal. Namely, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton … That will not go over well with Slick Willy. The Clinton/Obama rivalry is about to be reignited …
Add UN Ambassador Susan Rice to the list of dishonest Dems … Five days after the Benghazi attacks, the Obama administration sent Rice out to all five Sunday morning talk shows to promote the cover story that the Benghazi attack was a spontaneous reaction to some YouTube video that no one has seen … Why the cover story? Because terrorists attacking the U.S. right before the general election would not be good for Barack Obama’s reelection campaign …
Rice’s blatant lies: She claimed there was a protest outside the U.S. consulate in Benghazi prior to the attacks. Absolutely false … She claimed the protest was a spontaneous response to the YouTube video. Another falsehood … She said the intelligence they had provided no evidence this was a coordinated attack. Her nose keeps growing … The facts are, before Rice went on these shows, intelligence officials, and even Libya’s president, had already determined and announced the attacks were well-planned in advance.
Now, if the Obama administration did not know all the facts, why would they send her on FOX, CNN, NBC, CBS and ABC to tell this story? To promote their cover CYA story, which has now crumbled.
Obama shouldn’t even bother showing up for Tuesday’s debate. Kinda like last time … This race ended the second Mitt Romney scored the coveted Lindsey Lohan and Scott Baio endorsements … Yes, it’s true. Chachi Loves Mitt.
And if that’s not enough, Lyon County GOP Chair Cody Hoefert and the good folks in northwest Iowa, like the farmer who found a unique way to show his support, will tilt the balance in the favor of Romney/Ryan, as well as Congressman Steve King.
Carpetbagger Christie Vilsack wants northwest Iowans to believe she’s all about education and literacy. Just one problem: Her own campaign fails miserably on those issues. Behold Vilsack’s recent mailer, claiming she “has been long been” a leader on family literacy:
Then there was Vilsack’s ad about education, titled “Indepedence”:
She also claims to be about common sense, even holding a rally headlined by Bill Clinton titled “The Value of Common Sense” … Common sense would lead most people to avoid putting Slick Willy anywhere near a strip club … Rumor has it Clinton’s reward for campaigning with Vilsack was a wad of $1 bills …
CNN’S John King is a pretty cool guy. During Mitt Romney’s campaign event at a Van Meter farm last week, I watched King help an elderly lady stand on a chair so she could see. Later, as the Coon Rapids-Bayard FFA walked by him after delivering the Pledge of Allegiance, King told them, “Good job guys.” … Small things, but classy. I gained a new respect for King after witnessing these acts of kindness.
I’m man enough to admit, I occasionally become a sentimental sap … It usually happens with sports movies, sunsets and Scooby Doo episodes … As long as Scrappy isn’t in them … Surprise military homecomings always get to me. Although I don’t care for the South Carolina Gamecocks, this homecoming was simply awesome.
Finally, after Saturday’s double OT road win, the Iowa Hawkeyes are now 2-0 in Big 10 play. For all you whiners who thought the sky was falling in September, feel free to cut and paste this into your apology letter to Kirk Ferentz:
Remember way back when I said you’re an incompetent buffoon and Iowa should fire you? I’m sorry. I did not mean it. You’re not an incompetent buffoon. You are the greatest. I promise I won’t overreact again. At least not until the next time you lose a game.
Ungrateful Hawkeye Fan
P.S. By “way back”, I mean three weeks ago.
That’s it for this week. Thanks for dropping by. In a time of deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.
