VETPAC ENDORSES REP. LEONARD BOSWELL (D-IA) IN IOWA’S 3RD DISTRICT.

The Veterans’ Alliance for Security and Democracy Political Action Committee (VETPAC) could not be more excited to endorse Rep. Leonard Boswell, a true hero and preeminent Congressional champion of veterans.

Leonard Boswell’s personal accomplishments are remarkable. He spent twenty years in the U.S. Army, serving two tours in Vietnam as a combat assault helicopter pilot and two tours with NATO in Europe. He has received two Distinguished Flying Crosses, two Bronze Stars, and the Soldier’s Medal among many other awards.

In Congress, Rep. Boswell’s focus on veterans’ issues has been unparalleled. In 2007, he shepherded his signature veterans’ achievement, the Joshua Omvig Veterans Suicide Prevention Act, through Congress before it was signed into law. The bill requires the VA to designate resources to prevent veterans’ suicide. Boswell capped this legislative victory for veterans by directing $10,000,000 for suicide prevention programs in this year’s Defense Appropriations bill. Separately, Boswell has lead monumental legislative efforts to enhance veterans’ educational opportunities.

“Veterans’ could not have a better champion in Congress than Leonard Boswell,” said VETPAC President Justin Ford. “A vote for Leonard Boswell is a vote for this country, its military, and those who have served in it.”

“I’m extremely honored to receive VetPAC’s endorsement,” said Boswell. “As someone who was drafted into the Army and served for 20 years, I believe that our most sacred duty is to honor the service to America from our veterans by fighting for good benefits, educational opportunities, and the mental health assistance they need.”

About VETPAC: VETPAC is America’s premier political action committee formed by veterans, working on behalf of veterans who want to continue their service to our nation in Congressional office. We support a growing community of candidates who share our values on issues vital to American stability: National security policy that is supportive of a strong military designed to face modern threats, but recognizes that not all threats can be solved by force alone; an open, democratic process in the United States and abroad; and support for those who serve while they’re both on and off the battlefield.
