Upmeyer Hosts Ron Paul on Day the Gingrich Announces

House Majority Leader Linda Upmeyer has made it no secret that Newt Gingrich is her choice for president.  Upmeyer, who has long supported Gingrich’s forays in the First-In-The-Nation caucus state, made her support known when she endorsed his candidacy back in February at the Iowa Renewable Fuels Summit.

With Gingrich officially announcing his presidential campaign today, it seems odd that Upmeyer is hosting another presidential hopeful in her office this afternoon.  From 3:15 to 4:15 p.m., Upmeyer will be hosting a meet and greet for Congressman Ron Paul for Republican legislators.

Below is the email that was sent out to legislators last night b Paul’s Iowa campaign manager.

Reception with Ron Paul in House Majority Leader’s Office

Dear Republican Legislator:

I encourage you to come to Linda Upmeyer’s office anytime Tuesday May 10th from 3:15 to 4:15pm and meet with Congressman Ron Paul.

I realize the Senate will gavel in and out Tuesday, but for those of you in the Senate, who are around, you are welcome to join all the Republican House Members who will take this opportunity to get acquainted with Dr. Paul.

Hope to see you there,

Drew Ivers
