Santorum Forced to Back Out of King Event – Rushes Home To Be With Family

This afternoon, former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum announced that he would be unable to attend Congressman Steve King’s Conservative Principles Conference in Des Moines.  The all day conservative conference takes place tomorrow, Saturday, March 26th.

Santorum’s statement read:

“Unfortunately, due to a family medical emergency, I will no longer be able to attend Congressman Steve King’s Conservative Principles Conference in Iowa tomorrow.  I am disappointed that I will not be able to participate in this important gathering of Iowa conservatives, but I look forward to being back in Iowa soon.”

TheIowaRepublican.com has learned that Santorum was already in route to Iowa before abruptly changing his plans.  Santorum was already in Minneapolis awaiting his connection to Des Moines before a family matter forced him to change his plans.

TheIowaRepublican.com will publish more information about this situation as it becomes available.
