Ron Paul Joins Forces With Barney Frank to Legalize Marijuana

By Craig Robinson

You have to hand it to Ron Paul.  While some political candidates suddenly get conservative before they run for higher office, Ron Paul never shies away from his libertarian roots.

In the midst of his third presidential campaign, people sometimes forget he ran on the libertarian ticket in 1988, Paul has said that he would not have issued the order to kill Osama Bin Laden, and now he is introducing legislation with Barney Frank to legalize marijuana.

Not what one would expect from a Republican presidential candidate.

The legislation would limit the federal government’s role in marijuana enforcement to cross-border or inter-state smuggling, and allow people to legally grow, use or sell marijuana in states where it is legal.

The bill, which is expected to be introduced on Thursday by Republican Representative Ron Paul and Democratic Representative Barney Frank, would be the first ever legislation designed to end the federal ban on marijuana.
