Polk County GOP to Celebrate Reagan’s 100th Birthday Tonight

The Polk County Republicans and the Robb Kelley Club are hosting a celebration reception honoring the 100th Birthday of the 40th President of the United States tonight, February 7, 5-7 p.m.  at the Fort Des Moines Museum and Education Center, 75 E. Army Post Road, Des Moines.

The Event Co-Chairmen are Kevin and BJ McLaughlin and Dave Funk.  Special Guests of Honor include Iowa Governor Terry E. Branstad, Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds, former Iowa Governor Robert D. and Billie Ray, former United States Iowa Senator Roger Jepsen (R-IA) and former White House Assistant to President Reagan, Mrs. Dee Jepsen.  Additional special guests include National Rifle Association Executive Director and former Des Moines Assistant Police Chief Kayne Robinson.

The event is open to the public for this historical event with a $10.00 suggested donation.

Event coordinator Darrell Kearney said, “Events are happening all across the United States during Mr. Reagan’s Centennial Birthday celebration.  The national focus will definitely include this Iowa tribute to the Great Communicator.
President Reagan had a strong historical connection to the Hawkeye State-from his legendary broadcasting days at WHO Radio in Des Moines to his cavalry training and U.S. Army-commission at the history-rich Fort Des Moines Museum Military Base in 1937.  The Fort Des Moines Museum & Education Center presents a stunning backdrop for honoring Ronald Reagan.  The Museum will be open for public viewing of the special exhibits featuring his stay and conducts the Ronald Reagan Film Festival every year.
