Citing “continual lying” from organizers of the Tea Party of America, Sarah Palin might be pulling out of Saturday’s rally in Indianola. That is according to the Wall Street Journal. For now, Palin has put her appearance “on hold”. Sources involved with organizing the event tell TheIowaRepublican.com that they should know within the next few hours if the event will happen or not.
The event has been plagued with organization issues for weeks. “There have been several missteps along the way,” according to our source. The Tea Party of America, Organize4Palin and Palin’s advisers have all been involved in planning the event, and things have not gone smoothly.
Some of the problems stem from a miscommunication regarding the appearance of former U.S. Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell at the event. The founders of Tea Party of America, Charlie Gruschow and Ken Crow, gave conflicting stories regarding the invitation to O’Donnell. Crow informed the media on Monday night that O’Donnell would appear. However, the offer was later rescinded. Crow claimed he “assumed there was an open slot and there wasn’t.”
However, Gruschow said the appearance was canceled due to a backlash from supporters. He told the Wall Street Journal he had received several “emails from a lot of tea party folks that were very disappointed that she would be speaking.”
Then, on Tuesday evening, O’Donnell wrote on her Twitter page that she had been re-invited and would be appearing. Crow also claimed that invitation to O’Donnell was made with the approval of Sarah Palin. Not so, says PalinPAC. They have neither approved nor disapproved of any speakers at the event, according to the group.
Palin does still plan on coming to Iowa this weekend. However, her appearance at the Tea Party of America event in Indianola might not happen.
Stay tuned. We will have more details throughout the day.
UPDATE: Organize4Palin member and event volunteer Richard Rogers confirms to TheIowaRepublican.com that Sarah Palin will attend and speak at the Tea Party of America rally.
In other news, Christine O’Donnell has been disinvited. Again.
