You may have heard the story of the rancher and the post turtle. As the rancher drives down the road with a friend, they encounter a turtle sitting on a fence post. The friend asks the rancher what is that? The Rancher replies; It’s a post turtle… It’s another way of describing someone who has risen above his abilities…No way they got up their by themselves, they have no business on the post and they have no idea how to get off. ..
As the world debates the relative merit of killing Osama Bin Laden, an enemy of our nation who was responsible for the deaths of over 3,000 Americans, I have to wonder about the recently released photo of POTUS in the White House Situation Room.
As I see POTUS sitting in the back of the room, almost cowering, it reminds me of the body language a person under suspicion assumes in a police interview room while being questioned by a skilled detective as they are shown a video of the crime they have been accused of. They know that the outcome of what they did is not something they want to admit too, yet their body language has already confessed to the crime.
I was curious about the photo as it is clearly not a photo that shows a triumphant General on the battlefield nor that of a fighter who has just knocked out his opponent in the boxing ring. Instead, it’s a photo reminiscent of a post turtle. At least that was my impression until May 3rd when I heard a self-identified former US Navy SEAL, a member of Team Six, on the Rush Limbaugh Show. In the last few minutes of the third hour, the SEAL made a passing remark about the decision to take out Osama Bin Laden. POTUS was forced into the decision, not because he wanted to, but because he knew it would be leaked that he had been unwilling to kill OBL when he had the opportunity. POTUS knew such a leak would have resulted in either a Democrat other than himself or more likely, the Republican Presidential Nominee being elected President in 2012.
This explains the body language in the photo perfectly… a post turtle.
On a side note, the last thing OBL ever saw was a US Navy SEAL, a bright flash and then he finds out that there are no virgins after all!
