I recently read an article regarding the grievances an ISU professor had with the efforts of the ISU chapter of the Iowa Republicans in sending care packages to deployed troops. As a recently separated Marine Corps combat veteran currently attending college, this struck a chord with me.
I would like to extend my deepest thanks to those who have supported the troops in the past and who continue to do so. Receiving packages from home are incredible moral boosters to those who are forward deployed. It was an honor to serve my country and the grievances of Mr. Walker aside, I cherish every sacrifice I had to make to provide for even his public lack of support. The ISU chapter understands that this was about giving back in a small, yet meaningful way to those who give much for them.
While no one on the front line expects those back home to make the same sacrifice, their support is appreciated. We take pride in our service and do so that others may enjoy the privileges that come with liberty. Yes, we even fight for the liberty of men like Mr. Walker. Thank you, College Republicans, for having the heart that you do for your troops. It is appreciated.
