Latham Continues Record Setting Fundraising Pace

Iowa Congressman Tom Latham’s campaign committee will be reporting a record quarter for contributions raised and largest cash on hand balance in the committee’s history in required federal election finance reports due next week. Latham’s campaign will report just under $1.5 million in cash on hand at the close of the second quarter of the year. Latham’s committee will also report the most it has ever raised in a single quarter at a level of just under $589,000 for the quarter which ended on June 30th. This brings Latham for Congress’ total raised for the current election to over $1 million for the November 2012 race in Iowa’s new Third Congressional District.

This reporting period is the first that follows the new redistricting plan that redrew Iowa congressional and legislative districts for the next decade. The plan was signed into law by Iowa Governor Terry Branstad in April.

“Because this was the first quarter that followed the finalization of the new map in Iowa it was a significant bellwether quarter to determine strength and support of candidates in Iowa,” noted campaign deputy treasurer Elizabeth Severson. “There is a groundswell of support for Tom Latham, and the numbers prove that. This is the strongest financial position the Latham campaign has ever been at in our history. We continue to see record fundraising and support for Tom Latham because Iowans know that he is a principled leader who is working hard for the state and actually is listening to the opinions of Iowans and their families.”

Iowa’s new Third Congressional District is comprised of 16 counties in the southwest corner of the state that begins in the east with Polk County and Des Moines and stretches west to the Missouri River in Pottawattamie County and Council Bluffs.

The breakdown:

– A record quarter for contributions raised and largest cash on hand balance in the committee’s history.

– Latham’s campaign will report just under $1.5 million in cash on hand at the close of the second quarter

– Will report the most it has ever raised in a single quarter at a level of just under $589,000 for the quarter

– Total raised for the current cycle to over $1 million for the November 2012 race in Iowa’s new Third Congressional District.
