Kevin’s Korner: Palin-Perry Tag Team, Simon Sez He’s Sorry, and Hannity’s a Vampire?

Welcome to Kevin’s Korner.  I want to give a big shout out to all my loyal readers.  Both of ‘em.  The proud, the few, the really bored…

My friends with the Organize4Palin group are absolutely convinced she’s running for President.  I’m not … She might run, but personally, I think the wiser move would be for her to stay out and play kingmaker… BTW, a few Palin fanatics are getting to be Ron Paulbot-like annoying with their defense of every perceived slight of Sarah… Dude, she doesn’t walk on water…

Which leads us to the Interesting Conspiracy Theory of the Week:  Not to emulate Jesse Ventura, who was a great wrestling announcer, lousy governor and now total crackpot, but here’s the theory… Palin is in cahoots with Rick Perry, who she endorsed in 2010 and has praised repeatedly since then.  Palin runs cover for Perry, announces she’s not running and encourages her flock to support him.  With the momentum he’s gaining, that might be enough to put him over the top…  Remember, this is just a conspiracy theory, but if/when it happens, you read it here first…

Hilarious TV Line of the Week came from last Sunday’sTrue Blood” on HBO: “Vampires have often found it advantageous to maintain a hidden presence in humanity’s most powerful institutions.  In the 1600s that was the Catholic Church.  Today, as you all know, it’s Google and Fox News.” …  So, any guesses on who the vampires are on Fox News?  I know it’s not “Campaign” Carl Cameron or Shep Smith .  I’ve seen them in the daylight… How about O’ReillyGretaHannity?  My money’s on Hannity.  He never seems to age…

WHO Radio’s Simon Conway is a classy guy.  He grilled Tim Pawlenty with an allegation that T-Paw’s people were trying to dig up dirt on Michele Bachmann through a former Bachmann intern.  When his source backed away, Simon said issued a very sincere apology … Classy and contrite.  Two extremely rare qualities among the media.

To be honest, I’m kind of enjoying this little spat between T-Paw and Michele Bachmann…  I’m not sure it helps either of them, but it’s fun to see the GOP candidates mix it up a little.  Last time, you could tell most everyone had an utter disdain for Romney…  Interested to see how this plays out over the next few months, if Pawlenty is still in the race after the Ames Straw Poll.  And that’s a BIG if… BTW, Ron Paul takes a shot at Bachmann in his latest mailer… And Rick Santorum is scoring jabs on the entire field… The next debate is going to be a slugfest.

Since a few of you have asked, I’m still looking for a Shoulder Parrot of my very own, just like in the pirate movies … I’ve done a little research.  It looks like with the really well-trained Shoulder Parrots, you don’t even have to be around the creature to have it repeat exactly what you’re thinking…  Still, they must be completely brainwashed and never, ever be allowed to think for themselves…  If anyone knows where to find one of these sad creatures, let me know…

The longer this debt ceiling nonsense drags on, the more cover it gives Obama in the Operation Fast & Furious scandal…  Amazingly, the ATF has allowed over 2,000 illegal guns to hit the streets, and wound up in the hands of powerful drug cartels.  The guns have been used in the several murders, including those of our own border agents…  This should be getting ENORMOUS media coverage, and if a Republican was in the White House, it would be.

I got another fundraising plea from ol’ BVP this week.  In the email, he claimed “unprecedented support” for The Family Leader in the wake of the pledge fiasco… Um, Bob, if you’re getting “unprecedented support”, why are you asking me for money, again?

Within a few hours of the NFL lockout ending, I received invites to join four different Fantasy Football Leagues.  Much as I’d love to take all their money, I’ll restrict myself to just two this season… Of course, I have to defend my title in the Iowa Political Hacks League, which I won thanks mainly to a dog killer … Thanks Michael Vick…  And those who inspired me to win by vetoing my early trade attempts. Karma, baby … Arf!!

My clandestine, ubiquitous informants tell me Polk County Supervisor Tom Hockensmith was spotted in the Pleasant Hill parade Saturday in a $130,000 car.  Interesting… I thought the Hocker was a “man of the people”.  At least, that’s what he wants us to believe… And wasn’t he criticizing his opponent last cycle for having one big money donor?  How do you spell hypocrisy?  D-E-M-O-C-R-A-T.

Speaking of Dems, who is the best liberal blogger in the biz? … Which is kind of like saying he’s the nicest guy in prison … Anyway, my vote is for Iowa’s own John DeethHe’s funny, sensible, and does his research as well as any journalist in the state … I disagree with him on the issues, but enjoy reading his blog.  Almost all of the others are tedious, lib propaganda-fests.

Finally, our Quote of the Week… The most authentic thing about us is our capacity to create, to overcome, to transform to love and to be greater than our suffering-Ben Okri.
