In terms of presidential politics in Iowa, the month of March is coming in like a lion. With Ron Paul, Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, Tim Pawlenty, and Herman Cain all in state today, Iowa is once again the hub of 2012 activity. It now appears that March will not go out like a lamb like the old saying goes, as candidates are making plans to be back at the end of the month.
Congressman Steve King’s Conservative Action Conference in Des Moines on March 26th as already attracted some big names, but now more potential presidential candidates are making plans to attend. Governor Haley Barbour and former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich have committed to participate. They will be joined by Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, former Ambassador John R. Bolton, Herman Cain, former Senator Rick Santorum. The event will conclude with Senator Jim DeMint.
King’s event could very well end up being one of the must-attend events of the spring. In addition to the three potential presidential candidates, South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint, who could end up being a presidential candidate himself, is keynoting the event. Also attending King’s March 26th event is Former United Nations Ambassador John Bolton and a number of other nationally respected speakers and activists.
Conservative Principles Conference will be held at the Downtown Des Moines Marriott, 700 Grand Avenue. The Conference will begin with registration at 8:00 am with the program beginning at 9:00 am. An evening reception and banquet will begin at approximately 5:00 pm.
