Chet Watch 2011 – The Aftermath err After-a-big -mac

It seems like the Democrat communications director, Jason Clayworth of the Des Moines Register, has been so busy writing about gay marriage that he hasn’t been able to keep us updated on what his best bud, former Governor Chet Culver is up too.  Clayworth published at least 7 blog entries about the marriage debate last night, almost all of them were about people who spoke in opposition to the Iowa Marriage Amendment.

Anyway, gay marriage is not the subject of this column, Chet Culver is.  In the last few days I’ve crossed paths with the former governor on a number of occasions, here is what I’ve learned.

Last Thursday, I was on the same flight as Culver.  I was enjoying having a row all to myself.  Then the stewardess asked me to move, being the helpful guy that I am, I agreed.  Then she gave my seat to Culver, so he could have the extra space that I was enjoying.  Culver must have been worried that he wasn’t going to get special treatment anymore because he was sweating like a racehorse, or sweating like he was in a gubernatorial debate, you get the picture.

I later saw Culver walking down K Street in Washington, D.C. at 5:37 p.m.  I guess he probably had his resume in hand.  And here I thought he had a gig lined up with Mid-American Energy.

On Saturday morning, I spotted Chet Culver at the South Suburban Y.  Culver was wearing sweats.  I was glad to see that Culver was at the gym, but then I noticed that instead of working out, he had a huge pile of McDonalds he was working on…

I guess he’s not going to get a job being Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” initiative.

I will try to keep you up to date on what Chet’s up to.  If you have any tips, suggestions, or photos please email them to [email protected]
