Branstad names Jim Schipper the superintendent of Iowa Division of Banking

Gov.-elect Terry Branstad announced today that James (Jim) Schipper will serve as superintendant of Iowa Division of Banking in the Branstad-Reynolds administration.

“I am pleased to announce today that Jim Schipper will serve as the superintendent of Iowa Division of Banking,” said Branstad. “I am confident that Jim’s knowledge, expertise and experience within the Iowa Bankers Association will serve Iowans well.”

The Iowa Division of Banks works to protect the interests of those who interact with banks and financial service providers to ensure that all laws and regulations are followed. The department works to maintain a healthy and prosperous regulatory environment to allow Iowa citizens safe and stable banking.

“I am thankful for the opportunity to serve Iowans in this role,” said Schipper. “I look forward to the challenge, and will seek to ensure and promote a healthy financial climate where both citizens and industry can succeed.”

Schipper has been active in the Iowa Bankers Association for the past twenty years serving as a Board Member, Treasurer and the Chairman and CEO in 2008. Schipper has been active in the American Bankers Association (ABA) and recently completed a term as a member of ABA Government Relations Council.

Schipper is a native of Osceola, Iowa, where he is actively involved in the community having served as the President of the Clark County Development Corporation and he currently serves as a Trustee for the Clark County Hospital.

Schipper is a graduate of Iowa State University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Ag Business. Jim and his wife of thirty-seven years, Elaine, live in Osceola. They have two grown children, Angela and Tim.
