Linn County Supervisor Brent Oleson:
Mr. Oleson was instrumental in passing the Linn County GOP’s loyalty oath. The oath applies to gubernatorial candidates running for the Republican nomination for governor. All it really asks is for them to pledge to support the Republican nominee. All but Vander Plaats has said that they would sign it.
Linn County’s loyalty oath has caused a lot of chatter out there. Now all I know is that if I authored this loyalty oath, I’d make sure that my website doesn’t have ads on it that advocates for the election of DEMOCRAT Roxanne Conlin, or the IDP’s Terry vs. Terry website.
Brent, you’re an idiot for creating a loyalty oath, while you have ads on your website attacking terry Branstad and voting for Roxanne Conlin.
The News Media:
Anyone who thinks that the off-year caucuses mean anything are fools. We are told that Republican attendance was greater than in previous years. I don’t doubt that, but it should be higher. We have a ton of contested primaries across the state and being a delegate could be very important. It’s also impossible for the Republican Party to know what turnout actually was. The only time you really know how many people is in presidential years when a vote is taken.
It’s also foolish for the news media to read anything into having a caucus on a Saturday. The 2012 caucus date will be determined by what other states do, not what Iowa Republicans and Democrats want to see happen. It’s been this way for a long time now. The 2008 caucuses were a mess. Let’s hope we don’t have to deal with that nut job in New Hampshire again, or states like Michigan and Florida messing things up.
So what day will the 2012 caucuses be? I have no clue, but I bet it’s a week night.
What day will the 2012 caucuses be? No clue, but I bet it’s going to be COLD.
Will Iowa retain its First in the Nation Status? Of course we will.
The local news outlets are idiots for thinking that Saturday’s caucuses mean anything in terms of the next presidential caucus.
Did you see this guy on The Insiders yesterday? Crawford, the Democrats power broker in Iowa, grew a hideous goatee. It was so bad that in the prediction segment, Doug Gross, who’s about as funny as the hair on my big toe, predicted that Jerry would shave that thing off of his face. This is one prediction I hope Gross gets right.
Imagine my old blog buddy U.S. Attorney Gordon Fischer as an old man. Wait, I forgot, Gordon lost his campaign for U.S. Attorney. Anyway, Jerry must be trying to keep up with the Brad Pitt’s of the world and decided to grow a Jack Sparrow inspired beard.
Jerry, you’re a cool cat, people like you don’t need to grow some nasty goatee. You looked like an idiot.
Polk County Sheriff William McCarthy
Now Rep. Kevin McCarthy’s dad isn’t an idiot, but he does have a little PR problem in my opinion. The Des Moines Register pointed out that McCarthy receives $110k a year in retirement benefits from being a Des Moines police office. He also gets paid $137k a year for being the Polk County Sheriff. Talk about a nice gig.
Just think, when he retires for a second time, he can collect IPERS and Social Security too. With that kind of cushy retirement, I think that maybe I should have gone into law enforcement.
I’m an idiot.
