Okay, so we all know that I have my issues with the Hawkeyes. But I have to admit that I will now call Ricky Stanzi my favorite player for his patriotic (yet somewhat rambling) post-game interview.

TV Announcer Dude Chris Meyers: “I know you’re from middle America, do you feel like sometimes you’re representing more than just a school or a conference, maybe an entire group of American citizens out there?”

Stanzi: “Of course, I mean, there’s nothing better than being American, so, I mean, this is the greatest feeling. If you don’t love it, leave it. USA, Number One!” (Fist pump).

It was kind of a weird question, so I guess Stanzi did the best he could with it. It just made me laugh… in a proud, patriotic way.

Maybe Stanzi should coach Obama on how to show some patriotism. Heck, based on those comments alone, Stanzi might be a better policy adviser than anybody Obama’s got now.

Battleground Iowa
Emily Geiger writes from a conservative perspective on everything from politics to religion to pop culture. Like the original Emily of Revolutionary War era, this Emily is delivering important messages crucial to winning the raging war of the time, but today, this is a culture war rather than a traditional one. And, like the original Emily, sometimes it takes a woman to do (or say) that which lesser men lack the courage and tenacity to do.
