Iowa Gun Owners PAC Endorses Governor Terry Branstad

In a disappointing turn of events the NRA has endorsed Iowa Governor Chet Culver in his bid for re-election. Iowa Gun Owners PAC disagrees with this decision.

Grassroots gun activists across the state have reason to be disappointed with the NRA endorsement of Culver. After all, Governor Culver signed into law SF2357 which allows Iowans, not convicted of any crime and potentially not even being allowed to be present to make a defense at evidentiary hearings, to have their lawfully owned firearms seized from them based on accusations alone.

Governor Culver also refused to complete the Iowa Gun Owners 2010 Candidate Survey.

Governor Terry Branstad, on the other hand, completed the important survey with a 100% pro-gun response.

“Unfortunately this is becoming all too common across the country,” said Aaron Dorr, Chairman of the Iowa Gun Owners PAC. “As long as the NRA bases their decisions on political expediency rather than on the will of grassroots gun owners this trend is likely to continue.”

“Given Governor Branstad’s 100% pro-gun reply to his candidate survey and Senator Reynolds’ support in the legislature in advancing our REAL Right-to-Carry initiative, the Iowa Gun Owners Political Action Committee is pleased to endorse the Brandstad/Reynolds ticket in the upcoming gubernatorial election,” said Dorr.
