Iowa Corn Growers Back Grassley

The Iowa Corn Growers Political Action Committee endorsed Sen. Chuck Grassley today.

“Iowa’s corn growers work hard to feed the world and help fuel our country. They are stewards of the land and a crucial part of American agriculture, which is the backbone of our economy,” Grassley said. “I am honored to work on behalf of Iowa’s farmers and value-added agriculture industry every day.”

Here is the text of the group’s release:

The Iowa Corn Growers Political Action Committee (PAC) has endorsed Senator Charles Grassley for his support of Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) policies.

“We work to support candidates who have supported issues that affect our members,” said Bruce Rohwer, PAC chair and a farmer from Paullina.  “When officials in Washington D.C. are working hard on behalf of Iowa corn growers, then of course we want to help
support them.”

Senator Charles Grassley most recently was the original sponsor for the extension of VTEEC or the federal ethanol tax credit. He is a widely known supporter of biofuels and farm bill policies that help Iowa agriculture and corn farmers. Senator Grassley currently has the longest consecutive voting record in the US Senate and has earned his reputation with farmers in Iowa.

Iowa Corn Growers Association PAC decisions are made by a bipartisan committee of Iowa Corn Growers Association members after candidates are evaluated for their support of Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) policies, including such topics as the farm bill, ethanol, and transportation.

Funding for the Iowa Corn Growers Association PAC comes from voluntary donations by ICGA members.  ICGA dues money cannot be used for PAC contributions and it is policy to contribute to candidates in the year they are up for election.
