Former State Senator John Putney Backs Gibbons in 3rd CD Race

Des Moines, IA—Jim Gibbons, Republican candidate for Congress in Iowa’s Third Congressional District, announced today that he has been endorsed by former State Senator John Putney. Putney, of Gladbrook, formerly represented some of the eastern-most counties of the 3rd Congressional District.

“During my tenure as State Senator, I observed the qualities and characteristics of the most effective legislators – ones who represented their constituents very well and garnered high respect among their peers. They all possessed a high level of knowledge; they were focused, principled, compassionate, and very hard-working. Jim Gibbons possesses all of these attributes,” said John Putney.

Putney is a key endorsement for the Gibbons campaign as Putney formerly represented much of the eastern portion of the 3rd Congressional District as a State Senator. Putney is a well respected figure not only for his work in the Iowa State Senate but for his lifelong work supporting Iowa’s agricultural interests and numerous community activities.

Gibbons said, “I am grateful to John for supporting my campaign. I have known John for a number of years and have the utmost respect for him. His support in Tama, Grundy, Benton, and Iowa counties will be one of the keys to winning this primary on June 8th.”
