Former District 73 Candidate Roger Billings Passes Away

From Roger’s Facebook page on Sunday:

Roger went to be with the Lord this morning at 1:10. What a tremendous blessing it was to share the short time we have on earth with him. Three weeks ago Mom encouraged us to “love him Home”…we certainly did that! He was surrounded by friends and family until the very end. Philippians 1:21 For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

The memorial service for Roger Billings will be this Saturday, November 27th, at Indianola Community Church in Indianola, IA…10:30 a.m. with a lunch to follow.

Roger was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor on 10/26.

Meeting Roger on several occasions was a blessing.  He was a consummate gentlemen and statesman.  We often discussed his love for the Chicago Bears as he used the same color scheme for his campaign.

Also at his Facebook page was an image of him running a race and the following verse…. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge will award me on that day…

Photos of Roger by Dave Davidson were from a Dallas County event before the primary.
