Branstad Fires Back at Liberal Group

Iowans for Responsible Government (IRG), a liberal group trying to mislead Iowa Republicans before the June 8th primary, have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on television ads and direct mail in the last few weeks. Only time will tell if IRG’s efforts are successful, but they did make one mistake, they forgot to register The Branstad campaign quickly snatched up the url and are now using it to combat the attacks on the former governor’s record.

The website features information about the group, a web ad, and another ad that looks like it could grace television sets soon.

1. WHO is behind the deceptive television ads and slick mailings distorting Governor Branstad’s record to Republican primary voters?

Answer: Governor Culver and his liberal cronies — led by Des Moines lawyer and past Chairman of the Iowa Democratic Party Rob Tully.

2. WHY are they doing this?

Answer: Because they know that Governor Culver’s record of excessive spending, deficits, debt, and high unemployment won’t prevail against Governor Branstad’s record of reforming the state budgeting process, cutting taxes, and leading Iowa to a record level of employment. Governor Branstad is the only candidate who has beaten Culver in every scientific poll since retiring from Des Moines University last fall.

3. HOW can they get away with this?

Answer: Candidates must file regular disclosures of all contributions and expenditures. This group is able to use a loophole in the law to hide their spending and contributions.

4. WHAT can we do to prevent this heavily funded Culver crony campaign of deception and distortion from being successful?

Answer: call Chet Culver at 515.244.5151. Tell him that he has underestimated the intelligence of Iowa voters and that you are voting for Terry Branstad on June 8th and November 2nd.
