White House Nominates Three for Treasury Posts

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration, under criticism for failing to fill important vacancies at the Treasury Department quickly enough, Sunday nominated three senior advisers for key posts at the agency.

Chosen for assistant secretaries were David Cohen, who would oversee efforts to block terrorist financing; Alan Krueger, who would oversee economic policy; and Kim Wallace, who would be in charge of legislative affairs. All three candidates are currently counseling Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, and their nominations were generally well received by banking-industry officials and some Senate Democratic leaders.
