The Blizzard of 2009
I’m snowed in like most people. It really sucks but there are entertaining stories that I’ve been able to catch up on. As for the snow storm, I think this is the first time in my life time that the weather people have accurately predicted a major snow storm. Props to them. I always make sure I’m well prepared, but I hate nothing more than getting ready for some massive storm to only get an inch or two of snow. This was the real deal.
Who keeps $10k in a can…
And leaves in at K-Mart? Seriously, this has to be one of the strangest stories I’ve seen in a long time. Apparently Joe Heithoff of Des Moines was at the K-Mart on Hubbell. He brought with him a red can that contained $10k in cash.
Here is what is odd. I didn’t know that K-Marts still existed. I have not been to one in years, but I guess I don’t really spend much time hanging out on the east side. But what is really odd is why would a dude walk around K-Mart with a can of cash?
Joe’s wife said he might have been having a reaction to some medication. What kind of medicine makes you carry around $10k in a read can? I can’t wait to see the TV ad for that drug. I can hear it now, “Side Effects May Include…nausea, vomiting, headaches, heartburn, hair loss, diarrhea, dry mouth, water retention, painful rectal itch, hallucination, dementia, psychosis, coma, death, halitosis, lung cancer, mental retardation, brain tumors, paralyzation, sleep loss, internal bleeding, and the desire to carry around $10,000 in a red can.”
I’m glad that Mrs. Heithoff said that her husband was going to pick up the money and deposit it in the bank, but this is just a really strange story.
Does Todd Lickliter have the same mystery illness that Congressman Boswell had a couple years ago?
Hawkeye basketball coach Todd Lickliter hasn’t coached a game since before Thanksgiving. He’s been in the hospital and there has been no word what is going on with him until last night. A Cedar Rapids TV station is reporting that he has a tear in his carotid artery. The carotid artery supplies the head and neck with oxygenated blood. Lickliter was having serious headaches and checked himself in to the hospital.
I’m glad he is better but I think his basketball team is still going to give him headaches. So I guess that he didn’t have the mystery illness that Boswell had. We will probably never know what they heck went on with Boswell.
Culver’s Train Fetish Continues
Burlington Northern was raising money for military families with their Holiday Express train. They made a stop in Des Moines yesterday, and by now you should know that there is nothing that Culver loves more than getting to ride on a train. Seriously, he has some train fetish or something. I don’t get it.
