tir_buttonIn today’s article, “More Backroom Lottery Deals,” misidentified a political donor. Barry Schwartz is a member of the Board of Directors of Scientific Gaming Corp, but is not the donor in question. The donor referred to in this morning’s article is Bernard Schwartz, who has no connection to Scientific Gaming Corp.

Lorne Weil, the Chairman of Scientific Games Corporation, did meet with Governor Culver on December 9, 2008. Mr. Weil, who is not registered to lobby the executive branch, was joined in the meeting by Dan Kehl of Riverside Casino, Iowa Democratic operative Jeff Link, and Culver’s campaign chair and current member of the Board of Regents, Bonnie Campbell. Along with Mr. Weil, neither Kehl, Link, nor Campbell are registered to lobby the executive branch on behalf of Scientific Gaming Corp. has contacted Scientific Gaming Corp and asked for comment about this possible breach of Iowa ethics laws. As of this update, we have received no response to our inquiries.
